Position: Bookkeeper

FLSA: Hourly, Full-Time or Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting services for the law firm, and facilitate a professional and friendly relationship with vendors. A person in this position must be able to demonstrate professional integrity, attention to detail, and good judgment. A professional image, excellent communication and strong organizational skills are required. In addition, this position requires a person who is responsible, dependable, highly motivated, who possesses a great work attitude, and is a team player.

Requirements:

  1. Provides general managerial duties, including: human resources, payroll, employee benefits, tax reporting, and insurance.
  2. Provides law office operational duties, including: client trust accounting, billing, and account reconciliation.
  3. Maintains and audits financial records including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  4. Manages lawyers and firm staff’s professional licensures.
  5. Provides prompt, courteous and excellent service to internal and external parties.
  6. Has a general understanding of the legal process (or ability and willingness to learn).
  7. Communicates in a clear, professional, friendly and concise manner, both verbally and in writing.
  8. Displays a positive attitude toward work product and co-workers.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Proficient technology skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks.
  2. Prior bookkeeping experience in a professional setting preferred.
  3. Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with lawyers and office staff as a team.
  4. Ability to maintain positive relationships with clients and vendors.
  5. Ability to anticipate office needs.
  6. Ability to be flexible and exercise independent judgment.
  7. Ability to take direction, accept responsibility for assigned tasks and learn from problematic situations when they occur.
