Guardianship and Conservatorship Estates

Guardianship and Conservatorship Estates

OVERVIEW

Persons who lack the ability to make or carry out important decisions regarding their personal or financial affairs may require a court supervised guardianship and/or conservatorship. Administering such guardianship or conservatorship takes a great deal of experience, dedication and patience. The Iowa Legislature recently passed new laws for guardianships and conservatorships. Effective January 1, 2020, guardianship and conservatorship proceedings will probably be more time consuming and expensive.

If a court supervised guardianship or conservatorship is necessary or appropriate, we can help you find a lawyer with the necessary skills and experience to assist you. However, carefully drafted powers of attorney and/or trusts may reduce the need for such proceedings; whether they are for minors, young adults, or seniors.
